WV Center for Children's Justice is pleased to offer the 2018 Extra Mile Award to recognize the contribution of professionals who demonstrate excellence in the collaborative approach to protecting children from the devastating impact of child abuse and neglect.

The Extra Mile Award is based on the mission of the WV Center for Children's Justice, which states that “child abuse and neglect are community problems requiring community solutions.” The WV Center for Children's Justice, a multi-disciplinary body of public and private agencies and individuals, is committed to the protection of children. Our mission is to identify barriers to the successful resolution of child abuse and neglect issues and to educate and advocate for change.”

The Extra Mile Award is intended to recognize professionals who have made a significant positive contribution in the field of child abuse and neglect and have gone the “extra mile” on behalf of abused and neglected children. Nominees for the 2018 Extra Mile Award may be involved in providing direct services, management or administration.

Selection Criteria include:

  • Professional excellence in the nominee’s field of work contributing to the safety and wellbeing of children who have been victims of abuse or neglect.
  • Demonstration of outstanding professional qualities in working collaboratively with colleagues from a variety of disciplines, in a multidisciplinary team or other setting, to improve the community’s response to child abuse and neglect.
